QI Macros SPC Software for Excel is an affordable, easy-to-use Excel add-in for all of your data analysis needs. We highly recommend this handy macros program for anyone in need of a way to display and analyze data. QI Macros SPC Software for Excel installs and uninstalls cleanly. Despite not being too familiar with some of the chart concepts, we were still able to quickly jump in and see our data come to life. The program doesn't include a Help feature through its interface, but it does offer assistance through its Web site, should you need it. Again, the program placed our numbers into an attractive chart that graphed our entered data. We then took those same numbers and clicked the Box Whisker chart option. The g chart function quickly placed our random numbers into a chart, complete with built-in macros and a graph that changed with our data. We entered random numbers into the cells of our spreadsheet and tested the macros by clicking through the options. Each transforms your inputted data for the best analysis. The tab itself is broken into seven categories: Statistical Tools, Fill-in-the-Blanks Templates, Data Transformation, Capability Charts, Control Charts, Improvement Charts, and Other Charts. It appears as an extra tab at the top of your Excel window. Since this program integrates itself into Microsoft Excel's interface, you should have no problem using it. If the dots are wildly scattered, the regression equation may have limited usefulness.QI Macros SPC Software for Excel allows you to analyze data in a variety of formats, including histograms with Cp and Cpk, Pareto charts, scatter plots, box whisker plots, and all variable and attribute control charts. If the dots tightly adhere to the zero baseline, the regression equation is reasonably accurate. In the example, you should have cells A1 through A15 and D1 through D15 highlighted.Ĭlick the “Insert” tab, choose “Insert Scatter (X,Y) or Bubble Chart” from the Charts group and select the first “Scatter” option to create a residual plot.

Doing so copies the data down the rest of the column until it reaches the last data entry.Įnter “=B1-C1” without quotes in cell D1 to calculate the residual, or the predicted value’s deviation from the actual amount.Ĭlick the cell again and double-click the “Fill Handle” to copy the formula and display the residuals for each data entry. This calculates the predicted value.Ĭlick the cell again and double-click the small, black “Fill Handle” at the bottom right of the cell. Leave “Linear” selected and check “Display Equation on Chart.” Close the “Format Trendline” side panel.Įnter the equation that appears on the chart in cell C1, but replace “X” with “A1.” As an example, if the displayed equation is “y = 362.46x + 26259, enter “=362.46*A1+26356” without quotes in cell C1. In the example, highlight cells A1 through B15.Ĭlick the “Insert” tab, choose “Insert Scatter (X,Y) or Bubble Chart” from the Charts group and select the first “Scatter” option to create a scatter chart.Ĭlick “Add Chart Elements” from the Design tab, “Trendline” and then “More Trendline Options.” Click and drag your mouse across both data sets to highlight all the values.
